Two Things Tuesday

Happy Tuesday everyone,

Hope your week is going smoothly. Mine is going okay so far. I have some great things coming up in the next week so I wanted to give you some hints to keep you coming back.

1. I officially decided on a name for my new blog. I’m excited about the new blog potential! I’m hoping to get it more customized & personalized then my current blog. It’s going to be more about my whole life & less focused on running.

2. I have a great discount code going live with in the next couple of days. I’m excited to get that out to you because it’s a great company with a focus on motivating health and fitness! The discount needs to have a whole blog post dedicated to it so it will be up
In the next day or so.

I hope these “teaser” make you want to come back or continue to read my blog in the next couple of days/weeks. Who doesn’t like a coupon code? Saving money is always good. So, keep a look out for that information and be sure to share it.

Weekly Weigh-In: July 21 – 28, 2013

Another week down so it’s time to see how everything went this week. I’m happy to report that I’m down .8 lbs, not as much as I was hoping, but I know what happened. To much snacking at work was my complete down fall this week. It is true you really can not workout a bad diet (or something like that).

I didn’t get back in to the 140s like I wanted to, but did achieve one goal I set for myself. I earned 63 activity points this week. Yes, you read that right 63 activity points in one week. My original goal for 50 so 63 was a great achievement for me. I’ve been trying to take Claude the Cockapoo for at least a 1.5 – 2 mile walk every morning on the week days & two 1.5 – 2 mile walks on the weekends.

On a side note he’s been doing really well with the walks and it’s nice to watch him explore his new walking environment. It was also a great way to get some sweating done and even better to earn activity points. These walks have helped me earn my activity points and exhaust a high energy puppy.

I bought tons of fresh fruits and vegetables, but most of them went bad sadly. I tried not let this have a impact on my eating, but it really did. Instead of having fresh fruits & vegetables to snack on I resorted to the unhealthy snack offerings. That can’t happen again so I made some changes for next week. I bought tons more fresh fruits & vegetables, but this week I found some green bags to keep my produce fresh. Those will keep my fruits & vegetables fresh & even better it will help me save money.

So, my goals for next week is going to be to eat all of the fresh fruits & vegetables before them go bad. To stay out of the break room at work so that I am not eating mindlessly because it’s there. My activity point goal for this week is 60 +. I know that it is going to be hard goal to achieve, but it is achieve able for sure! With a good plan in hand I know that I will have a great week and achieve my 140 goal!

How was your weekly weigh-in?

Olay Fresh Effects: BB Cream

Hey Everyone,

Hope your Wednesday is going well. I’m back to tell you about another product that was in my Sun Kissed VoxBox from Influenster. This product is a fairly new on the market. It’s the
Olay Fresh Effects: BB Cream Skin Perfecting Tinted Moisturizer with SPF 15. This moisturizer is a sheer color that provides 24-hour hydration and sunscreen coverage. It’s available in fair/light & light/medium. It retails got $12.99 in stores.

I was super excited to get the BB cream because I have seen it and thought it would be something great for me! I’m not a huge fan of a face full of makeup so I thought this product would be perfect for me. When I opened the tube I noticed the fresh smell that was a refreshing change from the typical smell of foundation.

Before I tested the product I decided to do some research on how to apply the product correctly. I’ve never used a product like this so I wanted to make sure I know what I was doing. After I figured out how to apply the product correctly I decided to give it a try. The product feels really smooth and which felt nice while applying it. That’s were my happiness product ended.

When I applied it to my skin I noticed that it didn’t cover up much. I have red tones in my skin so after I applied the cream to my whole face I did not see any difference. I found out based on a little more research that this type of cream product doesn’t work well with my type of skin tone. I also felt like my face was really oily. I have naturally oily skin so I think that the cream just added to my already oil problem.

Overall I think that this product is a good, but it’s just not a product that works for me. If you have naturally oily skin you might find that this product for you. I think that the price is great for the amount of product you get. I’m sad that it didn’t work for me, but sometimes not everything works for everyone. I would recommend the product to someone looking for a good priced BB cream, but I would worn them about the oily skin problem. So, if you have dry to normal skin give this product a try!

From the Other Side

My husband and I did something a couple weeks ago that we’ve never done before. We volunteered for a race in Philadelphia. The race was The Color Run also know as the Happiest 5k on Earth. If you haven’t heard of The Color Run before you need to check it out!

Earlier this year I saw The Color Run advertised on twitter and thought that it was a cool idea. I considered participating in the race it’s self, but with the 13 in 2013 (13 half marathons in 2013) I just couldn’t fit it in. That being said I decided to try something I had never done before and volunteer for my first race. When I signed up to volunteer I thought that I would be doing it alone, but my husband and I decided to do it together.

The morning of the race we got up at about 3:30 am and headed to Philly to be there by 5. We got to volunteer check in at exactly 5 am. We got our volunteer t-shirts and set up with our leader. We were set up to check people in for the race. It was a pretty smooth experience for the most part besides the fact that so many races got stuck in traffic and had trouble getting to the race. The friends and family were pretty upset about this, but they let as many races participate as possible without getting in trouble with the city. By about 9 am we were told that we were all finished and we could head out.

Over all it was an interesting experience to be on the other side of a race experience. It taught me somethings that I will take to my next race experience. Sometimes things don’t go smoothly, but the volunteers are doing the best that they can. That being said if there is a problem just breath and remember it will workout in the end allowing you to have a great work experience. It looked like a pretty color experience, but not a race I would participate in to hot to be covered with the cornstarch color blend. Here are some picture that I took.

Have you ever volunteered for a race? Do you have a different racing experience after being a volunteer?

Considering a Change

Happy Monday Everyone,

Hope you all had a fabulous weekend. I know I did. It was great to spend time with my husband & not to have to rush. We just relaxed, got some chores done around the house and best of all had a pizza movie date on Sunday. I’m lucky to have a husband that knows just what I know.

So, here is what I need your help. I’ve been considering changing my blog/twitter handle. My life is about a lot more then running. I love sharing stories about my family, doing product/project reviews as well as race recaps and weight loss updates. I’m looking for a title that includes all of those things in some way.

If you have any suggestion or ideas please share them with me below. It’s just time to make a change and shift my focus just a bit. Any help would be extremely helpful! Thanks in advance & have a great week!

Weekly Weigh-In: July 14 – 21

Happy Sunday Everyone,

It’s time to check in for the weekly weigh – in. I’m up .2 this week. I’m not surprised by this at all, but I’m happy I wasn’t up more. I was up extremely sick on Sunday & Monday. That being said I allowed myself some carbs and things that were gentle on my system.

I wasn’t able to make my 50 + activity points goal this week because I was sick. I have some great plans for the next week! My goal for next week is to get in the 50 + activity points this week. Drinking at least 96 oz of water. Have a fruit or vegetable with breakfast, lunch & dinner. Getting in 10,000 steps everyday, at least!

That plan is going to be a huge success & loss next week, hopefully. I’m hoping to get back in to the 140s and never been in the 150s again. I’m ready to be close to my goal weight & my healthier self! I’m over being unhealthy and ready to be my healthier self. So, that’s what I am going to do this week. My goal is to get back in to the 140s with the steps I’m taking I’m pretty sure I can get there!

How was your weigh-in? Did you have a loss, a gain or no change?

SinfulShine with Gel Tech: In Wisp

As part of the Sunkissed VoxBox I received a nail polish from Sinful
Colors. It’s Sinful Shine with Gel
Tech in Wisp. The polish is available in 32 shades and is available exclusive at Walgreens.

I’ve used the polish a couple of times so far and I really enjoy it. For a light polish color it goes on smoothly and covers well. I was concerned that the white wouldn’t go on smoothly and that it would streak. I was extremely happy with the coverage it provided and the way that it dried. It also dried quickly which is a huge plus! For a inexpensive polish brand it lasted a long time before chipping. About a week in to wearing it I started to see some normal where & tear on the tips of my nails.

For the price of $2.99 I think that the Sinful Shine with Gel Tech by Sinful Color is a great purchase! I know that I will be buying more colors in the collection with in the next couple of months! They have a wide range of colors for whatever mood you’re in! So, if you’re in the market for an inexpensive nail polish with a great shine go to Walgreens and give this brand a try.
